Sterling Professor of Political Science; Director, Agrarian Studies; Professor of Anthropology

James Scott is the Sterling Professor of Political Science and Professor of Anthropology and is Director of the Agrarian Studies Program. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, has held grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Guggenheim Foundation, and has been a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Science, Science, Technology and Society Program at M.I.T., and the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton.

Fiona M. Scott Morton

Theodore Nierenberg Professor of Economics

Fiona M. Scott Morton is the Theodore Nierenberg Professor of Economics at the Yale University School of Management where she has been on the faculty since 1999. Her area of academic research is empirical industrial organization, with a focus on empirical studies of competition in areas such as pricing, entry, and product differentiation. Her published articles range widely across industries, from magazines, to shipping, to pharmaceuticals, to internet retailing, and are published in leading economics journals.

Jody Sindelar

Professor of Epidemiology/Public Health and Economics

Dr. Sindelar is a professor of public health and a health economist at the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) and Immediate Past Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management within YSPH. In addition, she is a Research Associate at the National Bureau Economic Research, is a Research Fellow at IZA (Institute for the Study of Labor) an Associated Faculty at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies at Yale, and has been the President of the American Society of Health Economists (ASHEcon).

Lisa Suter

Professor of Medicine (Internal Medicine); Director, Quality Measurement Program at the Center for Outcomes Research & Evaluation (CORE)

Lisa Gale Suter, M.D. is a Professor of Medicine in the Section of Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine, continuously board certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology since 2001 and 2003, respectively.

Peter Swenson

C.M. Saden Professor of Political Science

Peter A. Swenson is Yale’s C.M. Saden Professor of Political Science. He specializes in the comparative political economy of labor markets and social welfare in Europe and the United States. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on the economic, political and social foundations of social policy and market regulation in developed capitalist democracies.

Mary Tinetti

Gladys Phillips Crofoot Professor of Medicine (Geriatrics)

Dr. Tinetti is the Gladys Philips Crofoot Professor of Medicine and Public Health at Yale School of Medicine. Her current research and clinical focus is on clinical decision-making for older adults in the face of multiple health conditions, measuring the net benefit and harms of commonly used medications, and the importance of cross-disease universal health outcomes.

Tom Tyler

Macklin Fleming Professor of Law and Professor of Psychology and Founding Director of The Justice Collaboratory

Tom R. Tyler is the Macklin Fleming Professor of Law and Professor of Psychology at Yale Law School, as well as a Founding Director of The Justice Collaboratory. He is also a professor (by courtesy) at the Yale School of Management. He joined the Yale Law faculty in January 2012 as a professor of law and psychology. He was previously a University Professor at New York University, where he taught in both the psychology department and the law school.

Nisheeth Vishnoi

A. Bartlett Giamatti Professor of Computer Science

Professor Nisheeth Vishnoi’s research spans several areas of theoretical computer science: from approximability of NP-hard problems, to combinatorial, convex and non-convex optimization, to tackling algorithmic questions involving dynamical systems, stochastic processes, and polynomials.

Jacob Wallace

Assistant Professor of Public Health (Health Policy)

Jacob Wallace is an Assistant Professor of Public Health (Health Policy) at the Yale School of Public Health whose primary research interest is Medicaid. He is a health economist by training and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University. Prior to that he worked as a policy analyst for the New York State Department of Health in the Office of Health Insurance Programs for three years. His research is focused on the economics of the Medicaid program, with a particular focus on the impact of managed care.

Xiao Xu

Associate Professor of Medicine (Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences)

Dr. Xiao Xu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine, and a faculty member of Yale Cancer Center and Yale Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy and Effectiveness Research Center (COPPER). As a health economist and health services researcher, her work seeks to promote the delivery of high-quality and high-value care. Her research focuses on examining and identifying factors that influence the quality, outcomes, and value of care, with a focus on women’s health care.
