Around the world and in the United States, political scientists worry that democracy is failing. At a conference hosted by Yale’s Institution for Social and Policy Studies in December 2023, thought leaders from academia and the private sector gathered to learn from one another about the practicality and effectiveness of political lotteries to bolster public confidence in democracy and enhance policymaking.
